Eduardo Chillida inspiration
For our Chelsea Flower Show 2026 garden, the inspiration came from the work of Spanish sculptor Eduardo Chillida - an artist who understood form not just as shape, but as emotion made visible.
When our designer, Darren Hawkes, began exploring how to represent the hidden architecture of womanhood, he turned to Chillida’s work. Chillida’s etching Inguru III and his clay sculpture La Casa del Poeta III both echo the curves, enclosures, and connections that quietly define the female anatomy. Their interplay of space and boundary spoke to what we wanted this garden to be: protective yet open, strong yet tender.
Darren has reimagined those forms into striking architectural structures that reference the womb - places to pause, reflect, and talk. In their stillness and strength, they mirror our mission: to bring beauty, bravery, and openness to conversations about women’s health.
