Laurens story
We are so proud that Lauren, a survivor of stage 2 cervical cancer, is supporting our ‘Silent No More’ Garden at RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2026. She is reinforcing the important message for women to be the main advocate of their health by seeking urgent medical attention if they feel something doesn’t seem right.
Lauren and her family on holiday in Greece while awaiting her biopsy results. They had no idea what was going to happen 5 days later when she’d be diagnosed.
Lauren discovered she had cervical cancer in December 2023. Her symptoms had begun as abnormal bleeding between her periods and after sex. To start with, Lauren had put this down to hormonal changes, the stress of a busy life and two young children. However, after a few weeks with these symptoms, her gut instinct was telling her to get checked out by her doctor who requested an urgent scan and colposcopy.
A few weeks after her investigation, her results confirmed she did indeed have stage 2 cervical cancer. Her urgent treatment included having to have a radical hysterectomy, chemoradiation (combined chemotherapy and radio therapy) and brachytherapy ( targeted internal radiation) to fight the cancer. After a gruelling treatment journey, she received the happy news 4-months post-treatment that she had been given the all-clear.
We are so grateful to have Lauren supporting our ‘Silent No More’ Garden at RHS Chelsea Flower Show this year not just as a survivor, but as a powerful voice for change.
Her story is a reminder that early action saves lives. By speaking out, Lauren is helping to break the silence around gynaecological cancers and urging every woman to listen to her body, trust her instincts, and never hesitate to seek help.
